Strawberry Praline Salad Easily Made in Minutes!

Hey all! How does a throw back Thursday recipe sound? This stunning strawberry praline salad is an old recipe but it’s a darn goody! I found it on the web and have been in love ever since! It is such a beautiful dish because of the colors it’s got going on. Pretty red strawberries, bright green lettuce, rich brown of the pralines and stark white of the goat cheese! The pictures I’ve taken never do it justice.

The dressing in this recipe is super easy and quick to make. It is comprised mostly of household pantry staples. Let me just say I’m not a huge fan of vinegar. I think I’m really sensitive to it but this dressing is totally delicious with just a bit of tang. It pairs beautifully with the sweetness of the rest of the salad.

Strawberry praline salad is at home as a side salad accompanying any meat dish or by itself. Add grilled chicken to make a meal out of it!

Swaps & Specs

  • I really love Strawberries in this but I think it could be switched for raspberries, blueberries, kiwi or even grapes. Try it first as Strawberry Praline Salad and see what you think you could switch it with.
  • For the lettuce I use romaine. I think it gives better flavor and texture then iceberg lettuce. You are welcome to use your favorite greens here instead.
  • Originally the salad did not have the goat cheese. I added it because I felt like it needed that salty, creamy bite that the goat cheese offers. If you’ve never tried it before, place it only on individual portions of salad instead of the whole bowl. But then try it! Soo good!
  • The onion is an important piece in this salad. It adds a layer of flavor that cuts through the sweetness of the strawberries and sugar. I use a veggie peeler to get super thin slices of onion for the salad.
  • I use Vidalia onions mostly but I have also used a red onion in a pinch and it was still really good.
  • You can get all the ingredients ready but don’t mix them together until right before serving. If making it ahead, cut everything up and pace in zip lock baggies until ready to use.

Strawberry praline salad had starred on my holiday table as well as birthday parties, and BBQ’s. I enjoy it every time I make it. Even my son that loathes salad LOVES this one. Give it a try.
