How to Make the Best no bake Oreo Cream Pie!

Hey guys it’s recipe time again and this time I want to share with you my no-bake Oreo Cream Pie! I developed this recipe based very closely related to another fan favorite of mine, Banana Cream Pie. (I will share the recipe for that very soon as well). It’s sweet but not overly so, has contrasting textures and yet is somehow rich and decadent anyways.

With the major food holidays coming up faster then I think any of us would care to admit, I thought it important to share a very easy, likeable dessert. Pies are easy to transport, serve and of course eat! All you need is a fork, a plate and hungry mouths LOL!

The flavor profile of cookies and cream is popular in my house as is the love of Oreos! We usually always have some around and one day it inspired me to make something from them. I searched the internet and Pinterest looking for a recipe but most seemed quite involved. Some requiring baking or making custard type bases. Now please don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking any of those recipes but I was just looking for something more simple.

When I thought about the easiest cream pie I know how to make, the ideas just sprung from there. My husband and sons are always my guinea pigs for new ideas. Despite flying by the seat of my pants, I really was impressed with the result. I hope you enjoy Oreo Cream Pie as much as we do!

A few helpful tips:

  • Don’t use real butter! I did this once, put the pie in the fridge to set and the butter solidified. It caused the crust to not only stick the the bottom of the pan but it became too hard in my opinion. Use margarine, trust me.

  • In this recipe I made rosettes on the pie for looks. All you need to do is put the Cool Whip in a sandwich baggie, snip the corner to create a quick bag to pipe out of. It’s a fast, easy decorating technique that doesn’t require real ability. Just apply a little pressure to the bag and ta-da! Instant decorations!

  • I have a party size pack of Oreos available at my grocer, which is bigger then the family size, and what I used in this dish. If you don’t have this option I would say buy 2 regular sized packages and you would have enough plus some cookies leftover!

  • I recommend using a springform pan because it’s easier to access the pie. Springform pans are great for the torte type of pie.

  • The food processor with make this dish a breeze if you have one. If not, put the wafers into a gallon bag and take out all your frustrations with a meat mallet or rolling pin until completely crushed. I got a Ninja kitchen combo from Sam’s club a couple years back for around $150.00. It has a blender, food processer, two make-N-take smoothie cups and has been so far one of the best purchases to my kitchen I have made to date.

Equipment

  • 8" or 9" springform pan
  • food processor

Ingredients

  • 1 pack Oreo cookies Party size
  • 16 oz. Cool whip, thawed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3.4 oz. vanilla instant Jell-O pudding
  • 2-3 tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. margarine, melted

Instructions

  • Take two rows of cookies (or approximately 32 cookies), open them and scrape the creams into a separate bowl. Drop the cookie wafers into a food processor.
  • Once all the cookies are separated, pulse the chocolate wafers until they are fine crumbs. Dump all but 2 tbsp. of the crumbs into a springform pan. Add sugar to crumbs and use fingertips to mix together. Add melted margarine and mix until well combined. Press into the bottom of the pan until a even layer is across the bottom.
  • In a large bowl, add sour cream. Briefly heat up the reserved creams until they can be stirred smooth, add to sour cream slowly so it doesn't curdle. Whisk until smooth. Then add about 14oz of the Cool Whip to the bowl and whisk together. (The leftover Cool Whip will be used for decoration at the end.)
Add pudding mix and whisk until well blended and mixture starts to stiffen up. In a gallon bag, add 1 1/2 rows or approximately 8-10 cookies) and crushed them with a rolling pin. Add crushed cookies to the Cool Whip mixture and stir.
  • Dump mixture into pan, leveling it as you go. Once top is smooth and even, use remaining Cool Whip to make 6 rosettes around outer edge and one in the center. (See further instruction below) Sprinkle top with remaining cookie crumbs. Cut three Oreos in half and place one, cut side up, in each rosette. Add two Oreos to the center rosette.
  • Cover and let set for about an hour. Cut and enjoy!

Making a quick Rosette

  • Use a sandwich baggie, fill with topping. Snip about a quarter of an inch of the corner off. Holding the bag at a 90* angle from pie surface, add slight pressure and rotate counter clockwise at the same time until you make one circle. Stop pressure and lift bag away.
  • Move directly across the pie from the completed one and make another. Turn the pie and make another about 1/3 in the middle of those two and make another and so on. It will give you even spacing. Repeat this process until all rosettes are made.
