Hey guys I’m back again to share a Captivate Your Plate Exclusive Recipe, Caramel Peanut Butter Split. It has gooey caramel sauce, melty peanut butter, hot fudge and crunchy nuts all over your favorite vanilla ice cream. It is so decadent, creamy and delicious! The whole family will love this! I am going to include some ideas for peanut free below in the swaps section.
Did you know that the banana split has been kicking around American eateries since 1907? It Typically comes with vanilla, chocolate and strawberry scoops of ice cream. It would then be topped with crushed pineapple, strawberries and chocolate syrup. Next whipped topping, chopped nuts and maraschino cherries. The Drug store mogul Charles Walgreens of Chicago, is credited with growing the desserts’ popularity and it’s attraction as a signature dessert.

Swaps & Specs for Caramel Peanut Butter Split:
- Use a mini casserole or oval dish with high sides on it. I am in love with these ones from Heartland Home. The dishes are handmade, plus useful for many other things!! I actually have several of their products.
- Use a favorite ice cream or frozen custard. It can be non dairy or whatever fits your dietary needs.
- Use a sunbutter or other peanut free alternative in place of the peanut butter to be nut free.
- Swap crushed waffle cones, chopped wafer cookies, crushed pretzels or crushed chocolate chip cookies in place of the nut topping so you can still have the crunchy texture.
- Use chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla for that classic pairing of peanut butter & chocolate.
- Since the ingredients are so few, splurge. Get the best ice cream from your favorite parlor. Chop and toast the peanuts on your own. make your own caramel sauce. Elevate it by using this as your guide!
As far as making a dessert goes, it doesn”t get much easier. Caramel Peanut Butter Splits are amazing and you can make them in a flash with all your favorite ingredients! If you have any questions, please message me on one of my social media pages! Thanks for looking!

- Next drizzle Caramel sauce over the ice cream. Top the caramel with the warmed peanut butter. If you heat it enough, it will pour in a drizzle.

- After that, top the PB with the hot fudge. Finish with the nut topping. Serve immediately.

Notes
- Use chocolate ice cream for that classic peanut butter and chocolate pairing!
- Add whipped topping and cherries to complete the classic banana split look.
- I do this when the peanut butter jar is almost empty. Then I can just throw the whole jar in the microwave!
