Equipment

  • 8 qt. crockpot

Ingredients

  • 8-10 lbs. pork shoulder
  • 8 tbsp. liquid smoke, divided
  • 1/2 cup BBQ seasoning of your choosing, divided

Instructions

  • Rinse pork shoulder and place in crockpot. Drizzle approximately 2 tbsp. liquid smoke over meat. Then sprinkle approximately 1/4 cup of bbq seasoning over meat and rub it in. Flipp and repeat process. Leave meat fat side up. Cover and cook for 8 hours.
  • Remove meat from crockpot and shred using two forks or meat claws. Place meat back in crockpot in the juice. Add remaining liquid smoke and BBQ seasoning. Stir until well mixed. Serve on buns of your choosing.

Notes

  • This makes a large batch. You can cut it in half or make it and freeze the other half.
  • This version uses a dry rub which seasons the meat and leaves it open for whatever type of sauce you like.
